Swix XF Snowboard and Wide Universal Ski Vise (2 Piece)

I was worried that although I had seen "Made in Italy" on some pics of these on the web, they might have sent production to Asia. The pics on Amazon do not show the embossed country of origin on one side of each vise. I recommend updating the pics Amazon...Anyways, these are the best vises $ can buy. They do exactly what you need them to, and do it well. On the rubber tops there are actually micro-concavities which act like suction cups, providing an amazing amount of friction. Maintaining my snowboards has never been so much fun. I just love it when someone makes something which not only performs exceptionally well, but is built exceptionally well too. Also worth noting, they are made from metal, not plastic. I am going to order 3 more sets, no joke. I hate to be pessimistic, but I imagine Swix will eventually change these to a cheap plastic version to save on costs, and send production overseas. Get them now while you still can!

I've used this vise a few times now, and from the sturdy construction I'm confident that they will last for decades. The metal construction seems bullet-proof, and the tough rubber teeth are thick, and great for holding a snowboard in place. Although I haven't waxed or tuned any skis yet, I'm sure they could rest either on the middle part or with both skiis simultaneously. Center-slot works great for holding snowboard in palce for edge-work. Not sure if skiis could be placed in the slot and still have edge showing at the top, but my plan is to just put something in the gap below when the time comes, to make them stick up a bit. Solid construction. Very pleased with the product. Great for those of us who work on both snowboards and skiis.

They work as a ski/snowboard mount. But I just wish the champ opened up more than it does. The clamps to mount these to your work bench dont open wide enough in my opinion, less than 3 1/2". And my work bench consists of a 2x4 (with the long side being vertical) with a 1/2" plywood on top. So in order to use these I have to clamp another piece of wood horizontal that I can clamp these to

Very nice looking and good quality. But these are for snowboards, not skis. The package doesn't mention a word "ski".Can be used for skis, but wouldn't have been my first choice if I only had known.

The sparse description regarding the universality of the this vice is a bit misleading. The 90 degree slots are 4" (approximately 101mm) deep so only very wide powder/backcountry skis (>120mm @ waist) will be able to use that functionality.

I was a little hesitant in buying these clamps to work on my snowboard, especially for the price. I have waxed and sharpened my board now and they worked phenomenally! They are on the expensive side, but they made the work so much easier, I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking at getting into tuning their snowboard.

Very useful when used w/ waxing my snowboard and skis.

Well constructed. Requires a tie down piece so the skis don't slide off even with the rubber tops on these vices.
