A four leaf clover is a rare variation of the common three-leaf clover. They've been associated with bringing good luck since at least 1640 and in the 1800's they were said to be "gathered at night-time during the full moon by sorceresses" who then mixed them with other ingredients as part of their spells. As far as I know, these aren't gathered by sorceresses (but they wouldn't necessarily volunteer that information!) but they've been carefully gathered, dried and encapsulated in clear resin for you to wear. In nature, four-leaf clovers are rare - they're outnumbered by the three leaf variety by about 5,000 to 1. Which is why they have a reputation for being lucky - it's an Irish tradition that a four leaf clover (or shamrock if you're in Ireland) symbolises good omens for faith, hope, love as well as bringing luck for the finder. Although the lucky clover has been dried, it's still a vibrant green colour - the photos don't do it justice. Because they're natural things, there will be some variation in the colour you get. Its resin surroundings are about 25mm (around an inch) in diameter and the pendant is attached to a black cord that measures approximately 42cm and there's a short metal section that allows you a few centimetres of adjustment. Including the cord, it weighs about 4 grams so you can attract luck without being weighed down by your lucky charm. It makes a fantastic present - whether it's for a birthday, a gift, Saint Patrick's Day, a good luck charm or a costume party.
