Internet TV
First off, my husband and I know very little about all the new gadgets. We purchased a Sony Bravia internet capable TV and did not realize it would not just magically connect. The store suggested the powernet 200 starter kit for about$100. more than I found it at Amazon. We had so much trouble getting it to work. Maybe it was defective as it took 5 hours of talking to monster tech support and constantly resetting it for it to finally work. In between times, our computer system would go down and everything had to reset. Once it was working, we upgraded our Direct TV to HD DVR and found out it also requires an internet connection. Now what? I posted in frustration, and a fellow Amazon reviewer kindly wrote back and suggested getting the Monster 300 and 200 unit as the 300 has 3 or 4 ethernet ports and can easily accommodate the TV and DVR. I returned the 200 set, and purchased a 300 and 200 separately. My poor husband was not looking forward to another 5 hrs of connecting it, BUT this time, for whatever reason, it worked right away, as it is supposed to. If it works right, it is very simple and it definitely meets our needs. We have the 300 connected behind the TV and the 200 connected in the computer room. Life is now good!

Works exactly as it should
I really don't understand some of these negative reviews... I have worked with some power line adapters in the past and they can be a pain to configure. Besides simply plugging them both in you had to sync them. With these, they just worked. I plugged them in without reading any directions and to my surprise they were already synced and my network was up! What's even better is they have the two outlets on them which was the main selling point for me.I've yet to do any official data transfer tests but my primary use was to link the modem on one level of the house to a router on the next level. This being said, it's certainly not impending my internet performance at all. As long as you have good clean powerlines, I wouldn't expect anything less than your standard 100Mbps connection with these. Now, some things people might be doing which cause issues... These clearly state you CAN NOT plug them into a surge protector or anything meant to "clean up" the lines. These devices basically work on frequentcies not used by standard devices. In other words, it might be transmitting on 100Hz were as your typical devices work on 60Hz. Plug something in that cleans anything beyond the threshold of 50Hz-70Hz and you lost your network. So enough rambling. If you want to extend your network without running new wires, get this! It's only real downfall would be using it as the network's backbone (IE transmitting files internally). However, if you're strictly using it for internet connectivity, it's performance will be fine.--- Update later on... ---I'm not really sure how this should be viewed, but I'm dropping my review down one star. For my Den, I tapped into the circuit and added another outlet in the basement, which is were my "main" powerline adapter and other networking stuff is located. Within the den itself, I have another adapter (HTPC and such). Network speeds are great here with no hiccups or random drops. However, upstairs (so now off the circuit) I have all but lost connectivity. Recently I've gotten a mere .6mbps with the connection dropping now and then. I had purchased a few of these units so I even tried placing a few upstairs, even in rooms that didn't need network connectivity but with no success. So, results may vary when going outside one room/one circuit. However, stay within and you should have no problems.

The first "One" I've ever given... !!!UPGRADED TO A "TWO".
This product appears to be a repackaged unit. The two units were in a resealable plastic bag - no Monster Cable clam-shell packaging and the two Ethernet cables are not marked with Monster's logo - I suspect they are inferior copies. There were no instructions or warranty card. There was NO indication of this in the advertisement. I am going to try them out tonight (I found instructions online) but I am sorely tempted to return these. I also ordered a third individual unit - same thing.ADDED 02/13/13I plugged in three devices last night - one to my Motorola Cable Modem/Router/WiFi router and the other two to my two Panasonic Blu-ray disk players located on either end of the house. Everything worked immediately without any problems. I didn't bother trying to engage the security so it was literally plug and play. The hardest part was switching the settings on the Blu-Ray players from wireless networking to wired - not hard at all. I watched an Amazon streaming video through Prime on both players and they loaded very fast and went through the entire movie without hesitation or flicker. One unit (the one in the Master Bedroom), started buzzing in the middle of the night (the wife was not happy) but this morning I unplugged it and replugged it and it seems to have stopped. We'll see.... All in all I'm satisfied with the performance of these units, so I bumped the review up to a "Two", but I am still upset about the product as it was shipped to me. If I had received these new in factory sealed packaging I would give them a 5!ADDED 02/14/13The buzzing continues, so I am going to return the defective one for a replacement (hopefully - haven't heard back from vendor yet...). we may go back to Defcon (Rating) 1 soon, if I don't. Since this product came with no warranty card, I'm not even sure how I would put in a claim to Monster Cable. I am not a happy camper.

Packaging Damaged
The exterior plastic wrap around the product was cracked/cut leading me to believe that this is old stock and potentially been banged around. Since the damage was to the outer edges and not the product (from what I could visually see) I decided to keep the product. I opened it and followed the operating instructions provided and everything worked as intended. Receiving damaged/open product packaging a little disconcerting but nothing that couldn't be rectified by Amazon (if a return was necessary).

Works as described.
I had 3 of these and they all worked perfectly at first. 2 of them I purchased on Amazon and 1 of them locally. Unfortunately 1 of them stopped working just off warranty so I am down to 2 but those 2 are still going. I've had them for 3 years now. Would purchase again.

Defective
The unit received did not work at all. Spoke with Monster support and they said the unit must be defective. Have contacted the seller for a refund or replacement. Will follow up in another review.Follow up: seller is refunding the purchase, so worthy of 4 stars.

Power supply protection
Hooked up and running as advertised status is easily checked via the lights on the unit. Nice to know we have the protection if we need it.
