I have several versions of Steripen. I like this one the best---it's both the smallest and the easiest to use, which is unfortunate because the manufacturer has discontinued this version. Get 'em while they last, I guess. Just put it into the water and it starts. It's a bit wide, so is more appropriate for a glass of water than a water bottle (unless the bottle has a pretty wide mouth). SteriPen has serious quality control problems, though. I'm on my third one of these. The first two had battery problems (they wouldn't hold a charge beyond a couple of uses) out of the box. So far, #3 has been working, but if it starts failing, I'll just give up on it. I've had QC problems on other Steripen models as well, so the problem is with the manufacturer, not the model. Thanks, Amazon, for having a painless return policy.

I ordered this tiny steripen for my 12 months of travel around South America. For first three weeks it has worked wonders - it is small and easy to use and has sterilized water from any tap. I haven’t been sick !!! But after three weeks the UV lamp has died and I will now have to purchase water for the rest of my year long trip. Definitely nowhere near the 8000 uses claimed by the company :( Pricey for 21 days of use.

I bought this for a trip to India, thinking that I might need to treat some questionable water now and then. It turns out that I could have gotten away without it, as bottled water was cheap and easily available everywhere I went. However, there were times that I didn't want to use bottled water (for washing things, for brushing my teeth, etc), and I used this thing to treat the water.It couldn't have been easier to use. Just dunk it in the water and stir it around until the light turns green. I've seen enough test results from UV pens in general that I'm not worried about the device not working. They work. The fact that this one is USB rechargeable is a big benefit, since I already have plenty of other devices that need charging, and I won't have to find some obscure type of battery while in the middle of nowhere if it starts to die.All in all, the device is great. I probably didn't need to purchase it for my trip, but I'm glad that I had it along.

I needed this thing to work. I bought it because I was going to Africa. It worked once, at the hotel, when I was trying it out on bottled water. It appears to have become water-logged. Condensation was on the inside of the unit. Also, the unit didn't hold a charge, didn't like to turn on, and blinked red all the time when not in water.

Steripen saved my entire trip of 18months through Latin America and also saved my budget by enabling me to drink tap water everywhere!I had previously bought one of these from a store but dropped it and it broke so I repurchased this one on Amazon, I love it, this does one 1L with just one light, my previous one only did 500ml.The only negative is it does not come with a protective pouch. Considering how fragile steripens are (of course, it's a UV globe after all!), they should include the protective pouch for it. My previous purchase had a protective pouch in the box with it.

Unfortunately it only worked properly at very first testing at home. Stopped working altogether once abroad (when immersed in water, it does not activate at all although fully charged). Very difficult to get ahold of technical suppport, at least from abroad. Will probably have to return the product to the manufacturer and request a refund.

I bought this to replace a Steripen that failed after only a cou0ple of trips. So far I really like its small size and that it charges with USB. Time will tell if it holds up. It appears that many Amazon reviews document poor construction and premature failure.

This company was really responsive to my question about the requirement for a low current charger as suggested in the manual. You don't need to worry about current..only voltage. So ANY USB supply will charge this. A tech was very helpful in this regard. But anyway, does it work. Yeah, but how do you know. My wife went to Cuba and she's still with us so I guess it does what it's supposed to. Remember this only kills viruses and bacteria and does nothing to toxins or heavy metals.

Bought as a gift and just what was wanted. The lifetime guarantee/ replacement was an unexpected bonus.

Easy to use with wide mouth cantena. Reassuring to know your water is safe.

J'ai utilisé le Steripen pendant 2 semaines au Mexique. J'ai bu l'eau du robinet. Je n'ai eu aucun problème, aucun ballonnement, aucune crampe. Rien. Facile d'utilisation (90 secondes pour purifier 1 litre d'eau), écologique (rechargeable, aucune batterie à utiliser), léger. La durée de vie est très longue, je n'ai eu qu'à le charger une fois en deux semaines et nous étions deux à l'utiliser. Je ne m'en passerai plus.
