Very happy with my Rexel auto 60x purchase
The media could not be loaded. Good for small home office shredded over a ream of paper in batches on the day it arrived. Over headed a few times and jammed once. Good value at the discounted price I paid of around £87 normal retail price is a bit steep I think. Good shredder if you occasionally want to shred say 30 to 100 sheets (takes up to 60 at a time but works better with 30 to 40 sheets at a time I found). If lots of shredding daily probably not meant for that (as the box indicates).60 sheets at a time is seems a bit of a strain on it I think having shredded a ream of paper on the day it arrived, in batches. It needed to cool down in between batches before it would automatically start shredding again when doing more than one batch of 60 sheets. It seems to easily cope with 30 to 40 sheets at a time no problem without jamming or overheating and 30 to 40 sheets takes about 4 minutes (roughly 8 seconds a sheet). The flat feed shredders I now think work better as they shred one sheet at a time which is less strain in the machine than trying to shred 3,4, 8,12 sheets in one cut. Teeth will probably last longer with less jamming plus you don't have to stand there feeding it!. Seems true so far!

Shredding Sucks
We purchased this auto-loading shredder in order to save time shredding large quantities of documents. We routinely have a lot of sensitive information to destroy so this seemed like a great idea. Seemed, that is.The auto-loading function of the shredder works - just ensure you remove staples from documents before you load them in, as there's a good chance they will cause a jam. However, the BIGGEST issue with this function is that the bin size/distribution is completely inadequate for it. The rexel claims it can auto-load up to 60 documents, which is all very well, but that's no good if the bin can't actually hold those 60 shredded documents in the first place. In our experience this is exactly what goes wrong. The bin itself is rather large so you would expect this to not be a problem. On further investigation it looks like this could be because the shredder ejects the material at the rear and instead of falling down into the bin and spreading out, it actually just seems to sit there in one place and stack up until it stops because it detects the bin is full. So yes, you can auto load documents, but when you have to repeatedly stop to empty the bin anyway, you're not saving any real time at all.Another absolutely huge problem/gripe we have with this shredder is that it's the messiest shredder we've ever seen. EVERY time you have to open the drawer when it's full, pieces of your shredded documents will fall down the back and sides of the bin. This is because of, again, the inadequate bin/distribution system. Because all of the shredded bulk sits at the back in a single heaped pile, rather than falling down and spreading out, opening the full drawer causes this to pile to fall and spill pieces of shredded paper over the sides. The result? When you want to shred, you need to have a vacuum cleaner on standby. I thought this thing was meant to save time??Finally, our third gripe is the overheating protection mechanism. From the sounds of other comments we have been relatively lucky in that it seems to work initially but progressively gets more and more useless. Picture the scene; you have 200+ A4 documents to shred. You fire up the shredder from a cold start (it hasn't been used in over 24 hours) and load in a stack of 60 pages. At roughly page 40 the red light comes on and the shredder stops; it's shutting itself off to cool down. 3-5 minutes later the shredder reactivates, only to process around 10 pages and then shut itself off again. This process repeats with the number of pages varying slightly between pauses. I've used many shredders in the past, and this one gets hotter than most.Pros:It shreds. It shreds well (level 3?).The auto loader works.Cons:It shreds everywhere. All over your carpets, surfaces and floor.Cleaning up after this thing will waste any amount of time you save by using the auto loader function. It gets hot. Very hot. The amount of time wasted waiting for it to cool down will eliminate any time the auto loader saves.Useless and inadequate bin. Load up your documents, but have to empty it twice or more for every load - more wasting time.

A good value, reliable and effective home shredder
Overall, I'm pretty happy with the shredder. If you're aware of it's limitations (see notes below) it works well and, in my opinion, is pretty good value for money. I've also had it quite a while now and it's seen considerable use yet it's still working effectively and reliably.Couple of minor niggles. The auto sheet feeder is more sensitive than I'd expected to thickness of paper being fed into the shredder. Shredding printer paper is fine but anything much thicker and you might find you'll have to use the manual shredder facility. Which works fine so long as you follow the instructions about the numbers of sheets and thickness to manually feed. The auto reverse hasn't entirely lived up to the "ingenious manual reverse feature" claimed by Rexel. It works, but if you've been a bit too optimistic with the paper thickness unblocking might mean quite a bit of to'ing and fro'ing with some manual intervention. All in all though, good for most home use and I'm pleased I bought it.

Highly recommended
Ignore any negative reviews - this shredder is amazing! As a home worker I'd accumulated 7 years of confidential shredding and burnt out 3 Fellowes shredders along the way resulting in 6 bin bags full that needed shredding. This has chewed through the lot with consummate ease. Yes - it does stop when it gets too hot but that's the beauty of the top loading tray. You can load it up and when it cools diwn it carries on. No sitting over feeding in sheets... It will shred stapled documents but occasionally stutters over feeding these through - solution pull the sheets apart and then no problems at all. Excellent price as well.
