Misleading features

The characters are great and sound exactly like the familiar voices from the Peppa Pig TV series. The games have two difficulty levels that you can choose and you're given the option to progress to the harder level or continue playing at easy level. The Hide and Seek game is too difficult for younger players - in the demo you are shown a word e.g. car, then you have to tap on the car in Peppa's bedroom to tidy it away. My child enjoyed doing this but after the demo it got difficult very quickly - showing small sections of the alphabet and expecting the child to find missing letter e.g. g_i and the child needs to find the "h". This seemed a big jump from the demo. There is a nice story to read on there but it's a shame it's just the one story - really would expect to have two or three to choose from given that the game is described as a reading game.If the game cost around £7 I'd say fair enough, but I paid close to £12 and it doesn't feel like value for money.

Excellent for Learning about other Countries

I purchased this Dora Leap Pad game for my 6 year old son for a little over £5 from Amazon and felt it was really good value, especially considering that on Leap Frogs website they charge around £15-£20 for the game in app form. Specifically I got the game as I have been working to encourage my son to want to learn Spanish as I grew up myself speaking it. In the game you get calls from children around the world calling to ask Dora for help as Swiper has come to their country to steal an item of importance. The Map tells you how to get there - citing well known landmarks in that country. You then point out where these locations are on the map (much like how the tv show is done). Very much like the tv show in so many ways, avoiding obstacles down a river, answering questions to build things etc. If your child likes Dora they will love this game as it is so similar to the show. Also I am impressed with the locations chosen to learn about there is a great level of variety and shows just how different the world is in culture and in look, weather etc. Felt for a little over £5 it was excellent! My son is enjoying it and spontaneously told me about the river nile the other day - so he must be learning (but we'll keep that a secret!)

Not supported by LeapPad3?

I ordered in December a number of leapfrog games for my twins leapPad3. Unpacked them all and put them in their travel cases. We didn’t use them for Xmas as they were still not interested. We’re getting ready to travel tomorrow for half term and Inwas looking forward to introducing them to this Mathematics game. However this one doesn’t work. It says it’s not supported. Very annoying and I’d love of the vendor replies and replaces it with a compatible one.

Underwhelming game. If you must buy it do yourself a favour and buy some earphones for your child.

My just four year old received this game with his leappad. He hasn't played with it much since although seems to enjoy it when he does. It's good for second language English speakers as there is a lot of repetition of the name of the numbers. Beyond this I think your money is best spend elseA few criticisms and thoughtsThe gameplay is hugely repetitive. Especially the "follow the treasure map stage." Actually as my son speaks English as a second language it has been useful for him as he has to "find the blue butterflies". But the characters always say exactly same things and I suspect this gets quickly tedious even for a four year old. Unfortunately this stage is central to the game so you will be hearing a lot of it. This is one game I want to leave the room when he is playing as the soundtrack is so irritating.Other mini-games are a bit nicer. I think the lava path one is good. The map construction is also good although the controls are very fiddly and my son often thinks he has the answer wrong because he fails to exactly line up a map piece with the position into which it is supposed to be inserted. In all there are much better games available for the leap pad, although perhaps not so much that focuses on maths. Even here I am not convinced the game is really teaching that much although it has helped my son learn the names of the numbers in English (he knows them already in Portuguese). In all, I wouldn't pay more than 10 pounds for this; I think the dinosaur menu game for download might be a better introductory maths game and is much cheaper. But, I think if you find you must buy it because you want a maths game or your child loves Jake, then buy some headphones to go with it. It is painful to listen to.

Good learning tool

Good pack for the leap from it basically consists of a pack of cards in a tin which you take a photo of as you go along to complete each game and level. They are quite good and pretty basic learning tools for your children to follow mine have been pretty happy with them spreading the cards out on the floor or sofa and happily playing along. Its nice because it teaches them some independence in using tech stuff and also decision making with the cards and making the right choices to go onto the next level. Its stuff like building a monster truck and finding the right parts to make it (If they have seen the blaze cartoons it helps there are also blaze books around you can find cheap if they have read them before its a big help for them)

Hit with the toddler and good value for money!

Bought this for my 4.5yr old. He absoultely loves it. A well thought-out and educational app/game. When scanned using the camera of the leap pad the charachters come to life on screen and ask the user to count the number of items required or find a specific card or number/shape to scan which makes them think about the correct answers and search for the right card in order to carry on.All that comes in the pack is a set of good quality cards in a nice tin and a sheet to organise the cards into categories. The game is downloaded using the unique code that comes on a scratch-card in the pack, so dont expect to have a physical cartridge (and dont give it as a gift to a toddler unless you have WiFi available straight away!). All-in-all, a tenner well spent as far as we're concerned. Arrived next day, also.
