Easy tool to use. Took some trial and error but worked out has described. Soldering was something new to me, and I needed to fix my PS5 joysticks, I wanted to replace them with TMR joysticks. Been seeing this tool mentioned a lot in YouTube, told that it's easy work de-soldering joysticks. Of course it has it's challenges, nothing is as easy as some would say. Luckily I had a broken motherboard to practice on but with time and patience I manage to get it to work. Just use good flux and soldering wire to help de-solder the original joysticks, make sure to clean off the old flux and use wick for left over solder. And you should be good to go. Again it took some learning and practice to do it, but if anyone is willing to learn, it becomes a help full tool.

Just add a bit of solder to the joystick points and then allow the tip to heat up properly. Then just hold down on the joystick solder points and then the joystick can be pulled away effortlessly. Thanks eXtremeRate!

I have a board repair station in my office, but my first attempt to replace the joysticks on my son's PS5 controller made it evident that I was not going to be able to release all the joystick's pins with a typically soldering iron. I would need to either use a huge amount if heat (and risk damaging the board) or I'd have to cut it off the board, pull out the pin-stubs, and resolder the new stick. When I saw this eXtremeRate tool I jumped to try it out. It made a world of difference. It was compatible with the irons I had, so installing it was a breeze. I set the temp to 400 and tinned the tool to ensure good heat transfer. After holding it on the pins for a few seconds, it released the damaged stick and I was able to pull it out. I cleaned up the area, dropped in the new stick and opted to manually solder each pin - but I guess I could have just used the tool again. Overall - I think this took saved me from cooking the board and made the stick replacement simple and drama free. I'd recommend this for anyone taking on a controller repair - even if just using it once... its inexpensive enough that the hassle it saves is worth it. Definitely a 5-star for a solid product that does exactly what it says it will do.
