The best splatter screen
This splatter screen is well designed because it doesn't allow moisture to build up under it which will cause more splatter. It also filters out some of the smell as well.

This works great!
This really helped reduce the cooking smells and the amount of grease that usually gets on my cupboards when cooking. We do not have an overhead range hood, so cooking with oil is always a challenge. This did great reducing both the cooking smells and grease that splatters. It's totally worth the price.

Best splatter screen I've found
I bought this to replace the same screen that I originally bought in 2014. It's definitely gotten thinner and more malleable over the years, so I can't rate it as highly as the 2014 version, but it works just fine and is still the best splatter screen I've found for bacon, hamburger, and other meats. I like that the carbon lining absorbs smells and that it prevents my kitchen from smelling like bacon all day after I'm done cooking. I have a couple of other splatter screens and they don't hold a candle to this one for stopping grease and smells from escaping. Cleaning is easy - I throw it in the dishwasher and it tends to get the grease out. I don't have as much luck handwashing and need to soak it in hot water for proper grease removal if I go that route. All in all, a good buy that I didn't mind repeating after several years.

Seems to work to reduce kitchen odor when frying fish
I have used this twice in past week as a cover to skillet when frying fish. Both times noticing how much more reduced the smell of cooking odor wafting from kitchen into dining room, hall and living room. After searching web for something called an odorless skillet, decided to try first this flat device. Glad I did as it works well enough. Even when holding nose close above this lid to smell the steam coming through, it seems not as smelly. Good enough and intend to keep using it. To clean it, I use a wide brush dipped in soapy water to gently scrub both sides, then put on a hook on patio to dry in sun.

Only 2 months old and the screen is separating from the frame!
As several others have posted that this splatter screen is not well made such that the screen is separating from the frame. There is no need for me to add a photo to my review as others have already submitted their pics and mine looks the same. Either these are cheap clones or quality control just doesn't exist and/or Farberware needs to improve on their design and develop something more substantial. When I first received the product, I thought it was a cheaply made copy that could not be made by Farberware but after perusing through more reviews, I saw the same situation as mine. Don't waste your money on this splatter screen, there are many others out there that are better, even at the dollar store that another mentioned! Luckily, I kept my old one even though it's experiencing a minor issue.

If I must
Look I own several of these things and I bought this because I didn't have 13". It works great as do the others. The filter in the middle helps with splatter, odor, and it's easy to clean so I'm satisfied. I'm not quite sure what sheerness is about nor do I understand about warmth. When using these screens I don't make it a habit of touching it to see if it's hot. So sheerness and warmth have no meaning as to it's performance.

Does the job well, almost too well...
I'm not 100% sure how I feel about this product. This is a double screen oil splatter shield with a thin layer of odor absorbing mesh. I'm totally on board with the double screen. The odor mesh sounded like a good idea, but it actually traps a lot of the steam inside the pan.So when I was trying to sear my chicken, thighs, the top layer had already begun to cook because the steam and heat was all trapped in., along with a pool of water that started to collect. This could be good or bad, depending on what you're cooking. An egg? Not so bad. An expensive cut of dry aged rib eye steak, which would also be the greasiest and smokiest thing I cook? Probably not.I was also wanting to use this so I can make stovetop popcorn in my pot. I need to use a cover that lets steam escape so the popcorn doesn't get soggy, and had been using a metal colander flipped upside down. Thought the screen would be perfect for this too, but since it traps all the steam inside, it really is pointless.Take what you will from this. I thought I'd be excited about all the features of this screen, but I'm not sure how much I'll be using it since it steams my food :/

Works very well for what is intended for.
These don’t hold up very long but are not too far overpriced as to not buy another when it starts to fail.My first one lasted about two years.Hope the new one does as well.Works well stopping splatter.

Threw it away after a few months
Don’t waste your money. It didn’t really work to keep smoke down and ripped after washing. I had a regular splatter guard and it lasted for years. This product was disappointing.

Charcoal splatter guard worth it
It really does work it takes about 80% of the smell out of the air so if you're frying fish or something else that has a strong odour hamburger it really doesn't work quite well nothing is 100% but this is about 80%
