Easy to assemble perfectly packaged

I bought one of the these Sienna Oak cabinets about 5 years ago and it was so easy to assemble and looked great and has held up perfectly that when I needed more cabinet space I didn't hesitate to go back to the Sauder brand. I found the exact same cabinet and it was as easy to assemble as the first time I remembered. The package came in a well protected box with heavy, heavy duty cardboard around all the edges so no damage at all was able to chip off the edges. The price was right too. Big enough to store my larger appliances and all my canning! The depth is 17+ inches which was hard to find in some cabinets so it fits my big stuff. All the pre-drilled holes are perfectly placed but I think the best thing is the directions are so easy to follow, even this 73 year old woman put this together by herself in about 2 hours. All I needed was a screwdriver and a small hammer. The backing could be stronger like other reviewers mentioned but this has caused me zero problems over the years. The two cabinets fit together so perfectly they look like one. If I buy furniture to assemble it is going to be Sauder. I've assembled plenty of items but these directions are the best. I would buy again!

Perfect for our needs and at a good price

We were looking for a narrow cabinet that could store a lot for a tight space in a bedroom. This was the perfect size. Took a few hours to put together but the directions were very clear. Looks like and seems sturdy.

Pricey. Vague instructions.

Nice. Quality made. Hard to put together from goofy instructions According to husband who has put many things together. Took a long time to put together. Holds a lot. Just pay attention to load limit.

Roughly a million times nicer than Ikea

I recently bought this storage cabinet to use as a linen closet, and I'm extremely pleased with it, considering its price point. In fact, I liked it so much that I bought a second one to sit right next to the first. The cabinet was easy to put together. I've constructed more than 30 pieces of DIY furniture over the years from various retailers, including Target, Ikea, World Market, Overstock, etc., and I have to say that I was extremely impressed with this cabinet from Sauder. I would rank it in my personal Top 5 for a variety of reasons.First, the instructions were clear and easy to follow, especially for someone who has experience putting together DIY furniture. The instructions even included tips on making minor adjustments to the hinges (loosening the mounting screws) so that you can attach them into the cabinet walls quickly and easily. These "hinge adjustment tips" also help you position the doors once the cabinet is done so that there's no gap between them. Sauder also has a ton of instructional YouTube videos that help with this -- I'd highly recommend checking them out as a reference before putting the cabinet together. All the hardware is separated and labeled in a handy plastic bubble sheet. And, all of the pre-drilled screw holes are in the right spot. Everything just fits. You don't have to bend or shove or warp anything to get it to align properly.I'm a petite/small-framed 5'4" female, and aside from having my husband bring the shipping box (110 pounds) inside the house, I took it from there and put the cabinet together by myself with no assistance. It took about an hour and required only a hammer and a Philips head screwdriver (I'd recommend using a cordless/electric screwdriver, which will speed up the process considerably).I do want to share a DIY furniture tip or "shortcut" I learned years ago for any other small-framed people who are putting this unit together alone. When attaching door hinges to a cabinet, it's easier for me to lay the cabinet on its side (rather than upright, as the directions invariably recommend) and then attach the hinges from there, along the floor. No balancing or holding up the door. That approach has worked every time for years and definitely worked with this Sauder cabinet as well. Both of the units I ordered had a few tiny nicks in the finish here and there, but not on every piece. I just used a dark brown marker to fill them in, and now you can't even tell. I think these minor scratches could be totally avoided if Sauder would just put a single sheet of newsprint paper between the individual pieces in the shipping box, like Ikea does. As it stands, the pieces are well protected by the shipping box, but they're not necessarily protected from *each other* inside the box.All of the cabinet's interior shelves are adjustable and hold a maximum weight of 25 pounds. They are a very tight fit, though. I agree with other reviewers who said that the interior shelves are cut about 1/8" - 1/16" too wide. However, I got them to fit with a little pushing/tapping. The door handles look sleek and modern and are a cinch to attach. The cabinet's Dakota Oak finish is a lovely espresso color -- not quite as dark as Ikea's espresso-colored furniture, though, for anyone who might be wondering.Overall, I'm really pleased with how easy this cabinet was to construct, the extra tips on adjusting the hinges, and the appearance of the finished product. As I mentioned above, I liked the first cabinet so much that I bought a second one to sit right next to it. Constructing the second cabinet was just as easy as the first. Together, they're fantastic, and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend this cabinet and would not hesitate to buy it again or buy another piece from Sauder. It's so much nicer than what you'd get from Ikea.[Also, side note: Because of the depth of this cabinet (17") and the fact that all the interior shelves are adjustable, it would be great as a dollhouse apartment for adult collectors of Blythe, Pullip, Barbie, etc.!]

Good Pantry backed by GREAT customer service

Alright so I will be honest, I had a few issues with this thing. First of all, mine came with the Left and Right ends totally broken in half. This was likely due to the package being mishandled somewhere in transit. Luckily, and I want to stress this part, Sauder will send replacement parts if any of them come broken. Free. Via UPS. They actually had them to me in less than a week. Off to a halfway decent start. Now as far as putting the thing together. Instructions are crystal clear. Just take your time, look at the pictures and make sure there are holes where the holes are supposed to be. I made a mistake but it was an easy fix (put the top on upside down, realized finished side goes inside the cabinet). The bottom piece is brilliant. The wood gets held together by joining it on plastic feet which are then attached to the bottom via screws. Super easy but you will need a long neck screwdriver. The back is where things might get a little hairy. Make sure the back is EXACTLY how you want it because the backing has pre-punched holes for the nails and it makes it very easy to hammer them too close to an edge and splinter it (this happened to mine, but not too bad and I was able to pull some nails out and move it back into place). The doors are a bit tricky but all the adjustments are there. Depth, height and horizontal movement can be adjusted by tightening and loosening screws and moving the doors themselves. Honestly the only thing I didn't love about the doors is the center of them is a piece of very thin wood that was slid into it, and you can hear it sort of wiggle around and make a sandy noise. Think of it like the door is a window, and they used cheap glass to fill it.The last thing to do is put the shelves in. Honestly this part is usually the easiest you just jam the studs in and plop the shelves on top. I don't know if we just got unlucky but... our shelves did not fit at first. We had to loosen the top piece which holds the whole thing together to get them in and even now they are SNUG. We won't be adjusting them because we probably cant get them out now. After retightening the top the whole thing is essentially a solid unit. Feels sturdy at least.Minor gripes aside It's a good pantry, and under $200 I really can't complain. If you're not looking to spend $400-500+ then you're either going to buy something that's hard to build / prone to fall apart or you're going to buy something wholly decent. I think that's what this is. A solid budget pantry, and one I could recommend.
